SaaS Power at LocWorld Paris 2012 - Machine Translation Pre-Conf Day

June 24, 2012
The latest version of  “full machine translation - User Empowerment system” was released by Manuel Herranz, Pangeanic’s CEO, during his presentation at the MOSES CORE pre-conference day in Localization World Paris.

Manuel summarized Pangeanic's efforts  and R&D over the last few years which led the company to become the first translation company in the world to apply EU-sponsored academic machine-translation development Moses into a commercially viable product, featuring a user friendly, web-based environment, powerful statistics, cleaning routines and self-training (DIY) features. The many features included in PangeaMT overcome well-known limitations of the open source raw translator.

The service can be run as SaaS or in-house at translation departments, translation companies, etc and it features full API access, TMX pick-and-match to create new engines for user experimentation, a full set of metrics, etc.

The Moses platform is now the most widespread SMT translator in the world, but deployment is not for the faint-hearted. Large amounts of data necessary are still necessary to make it work and also to build language pairs, etc. Manuel’s presentation also summarized a star implementation at Sybase, a SAP company.
