10 Reasons to attend the EXPERT Business Showcase

 

The EXPERT project (EXPloiting Empirical appRoaches to Translation) is an ITN Marie Curie action that received support from the European Union in order to advance the current state of machine translation studies by hosting young PhD researchers and experienced researchers at universities and companies that wish to advance the current state of the art in machine translation through research, development and use of hybrid language translation technologies. The overall objective of EXPERT is to provide innovative research and training in the field of both Translation Memory and Machine Translation Technology.

EXPERT project translation technologies and machine translation The final event of the project will take place in Rome on Monday 9th May 2016 in the form of a Business Showcase, bringing together leading lights of the translation arena from both Academia and Industry. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome has kindly offered its headquarters.
  1. Gain valuable insights from leading industry translation specialists Pangeanic (Spain), Translated (Italy), Hermes Traducciones (Spain), Wordfast (France) and Etrad (Argentina), as well as from researchers based at University of Wolverhampton (UK), Universidad de Málaga (Spain), University of Sheffield (UK), Universität des Saarlandes (Germany), Dublin City University (Ireland) and Universiteit van Amsterdam (Netherlands).
  2. Hear Gianluca Giulini from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, present on their experiences with automatic translation in CPA translation workflow.
  3. Listen to Tony O’Dowd from KantanMT, on his story of commercializing academic research.
  4. Find out how Sandra De Luca from translation company Acclaro, uses LQA tools to generate reports and monitor and measure translation quality.
  5. Learn about the innovations developed by the experienced researchers in EXPERT.
  6. Watch how our early stage researchers fare in our dragons-den style event!
