Machine-translation technologies are up in the rise. They have become a popular tool among less spoken or “minority” languages to access larger communication channels, into and out of.
The UNDP local representative office has partly funded a project in Azerbaijan that allows automatically translation of telephone conversations from Azeri into English language, among other features. The Mnistry of Communications and Information Technologies has also given support to the project.
Although Russian features high in the request list of Dilmac, the developers do not want to restrict themselves with Russian and they plan to add main European languages to the system in the coming releases.
